BlackBerry 9720 announced, runs BB 7.1 and has a dedicated BBM key

Although, it has its new mobile OS and has launched a few devices running this latest OS, BlackBerry has now announced the new BlackBerry 9720, this is an affordable device and it comes pre-loaded with BB 7.1. The device has been previously leaked a few times and it is expected to be coming to India by the end of August or early September.

The BlackBerry 9720 looks like a mix of the Bold and Curve series devices from last year. It has however abandoned the series-tags and will simply be known as the BlackBerry 9720. Further it features a dedicated BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) key allowing users to access this service with extreme convenience. An interesting feature is that the device will be available in multiple colors.

It further sports a 2.8-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 480×360 pixels, it has a 5 megapixel EdoF camera with flash on the rear but no front facing camera. It is powered by a 806 MHz Tavor MG1 processor and includes 512MB of RAM.

The 9720 is equipped with a 1,450 mAh battery which the company claims will provide up to 7 hours of talk time and up to 18 days of standby time. It will come in black, pink, purple and white colors and the company will also launch colorful back covers for the phone.

It will support 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. At the moment no information on the pricing or availability has been released by the company.
