Sony brings unlocked Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia U to the US
Sony Mobile Communications have finally launched their Xperia NXT series of smartphones in the US. These include the Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia U and those who have been eagerly waiting for these devices can now get their hands on these Android based Sony smartphones.
The Sony Xperia S is a device powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which is supported by 1GB of RAM and an Adreno 220 GPU. It has a 12 megapixel rear camera, a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera and a 4.3-inch display with mobile BRAVIA engine technology.
The Xperia P is a mid-ranged Android device which is powered by a 1GHz dual-core NovaThor U8500 processor which is supported by 1GB of RAM and a Mali 400MP GPU. It is a device which sports a 4-inch display with mobile BRAVIA engine technology and has an 8 megapixel rear camera along with a secondary VGA quality front facing camera.
The most affordable of the three is the Sony Xperia U which is a device powered by dual-core 1GHz processor along with 512MB of RAM and a the same Mali 400MP GPU as the Xperia P. The Xperia U has a smaller 3.5-inch display with mobile BRAVIA engine technology, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a front facing VGA quality camera.
All the three devices will be available as unlocked devices in the US which means users won’t be bound to any carriers and won’t get involved in a contract. However due to this, the devices won’t have subsidized pricing. The Xperia S will be available for $559.99, the Xperia P is priced at $479.99 and the Xperia U is priced at $299.99. These device will com pre-loaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
