Avast ye, the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is coming in 2017! Walt Disney Pictures announced on Wednesday that the highly anticipated Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will be released on July 7, 2017.

Jack Sparrow will return to theaters after six years! The film was originally scheduled for 2016, but due some script issues it was pushed to July 7, 2017. Johnny Depp remains as captain Jack Sparrow, and it will be interesting to see him jumping on masts at the age of 51.

Besides Depp, the film  is rumored to feature another big movie star, Christoph Waltz. Geoffrey Rush, Jack Davenport and Keith Richards are also rumored to replicate their roles in the fifth movie.

The movie has a big chance to success, because all four previous Pirates Of The Caribbean movies have grossed more than $3 billion worldwide, and the last one, On Stranger Tides, crossed the $1 billion mark.

The title of this upcoming film will reportedly be Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. It is still unknown whether this will be the last adventure for Jack Sparrow and his brave crew, but one thing is for certain, this is one of the most influential and recognized movie franchises in history.

Jeff Nathanson will write the screenplay, and Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are directing the movie, along with Jerry Bruckheimer, who has been hired as a producer. There are no details about the plot of the movie, which means that Disney may have some surprises for us.

“Like audiences around the globe, we have high expectations for Jack Sparrow’s next adventure and we want to have all the right elements in place,” Said Disney production president Sean Bailey in the fall of 2013. “We’re not there yet and we want to make sure this project is everything these wonderful characters and of course the fans deserve.”

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will have strong competition from upcoming releases, such as Fantastic Four 2 and Despicable Me 3. Johnny Depp is one of the most present actor in Disney movies, having starred in 2010’s Alice in Wonderland and 2013’s The Lone Ranger. He next appearance will be in 2014’s Into the Woods.
