Apple announces new line-up of MacBook Air with Intel Haswell processor
Following the announcement of the new OS X Mavericks, the Cupertino based company also unveiled its new line-up of MacBook Air at the WWDC 2013 event. These new MacBook Airs will be powered by the recently unveiled Haswell chipset from Intel.
The new Intel Haswell chipset is the fourth generation processor with Intel Core i5 and Core i7 which is designed to provide better battery like and has improved integrated graphics on board. The new MacBook Airs announced by Apple look very similar to the previous generation models and will be available in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch variants.
The new 11-inch MacBook Air will be powered by an Intel processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.6GHz and 4GB of RAM. It will provide up to 9 hours of battery life and up to 8 hours of iTunes movie playback. The new 11-inch MacBook Air will come in two size variants of 128GB and 256GB of flash storage, both will be available for prices starting from Rs. 67,900 ($999) and Rs. 81,900 ($1,199) respectively.
The new 13-inch MacBook Air will also come with an Intel processor clocked at 1.3GHz and with speeds up to 2.6GHz with Turbo Boost. It will include 4GB of RAM with up to 12 hours of battery life and 10 hours of iTunes movie playback. The price for the 128GB variant of the 13-inch MacBook Air will start from Rs. 74,900 (1,099) while for the 256GB variant it starts from Rs. 88,900 ($1,299).
The new MacBook Airs will feature dual microphones, a FaceTime HD camera, high-speed Thunderbolt port and two USB 2.0 ports. They will supports dual displays and video mirroring with simultaneous support for full native resolution of built-in display.
The new MacBook Airs will be available via all authorized Apple resellers and they are already on sale.
