Sony working on a new water resistant phone after Xperia Z
Sony is reportedly working on a new phone which is believed to be the same handset codenamed Dogo, model number C550X, leaked by Thefullsignal.
The phone is expected to see the market with the name Xperia ZR combined with IP58 water-resistance rating, supposedly of a higher grade than the one on the previous Xperia Z which means, it could be submerged half a meter deep into water without miserably giving up and needing to rush looking for a blow dryer. It means, you can use the phone underwater without a worry of a loss.
The Xperia ZR will come with a 4.6″ screen with 720x1280p resolution along with a 13 megapixel camera with Exmor RS camera sensor, will run on a 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor chip and 2 GB of RAM and 2300 mAh battery. The phone will have inbuilt memory of 8 GB and will hold a microSD slot for expansion.
The phone is expected to be slightly above 10mm in thickness and 140 grams in weight. It will lose the back glass panel which is seen on the Xperia Z and is speculated to be cheaper than the Xperia Z.
The Xperia ZR is expected to be announced in the third quarter of this year. Last month, Sony launched the Xperia A with the same codename exclusively for the Japan market with a better display. Another phone, codenamed ‘Gaga’ is being worked on by Sony which is expected to come with a 5″ 1080p full HD display, 2 GB of RAM along with Snapdragon 600 chipset and 32GB internal storage.
