Israeli mobile phone manufacturer, Modu the company known for creating those modular cellphone has now been acquired by the all-powerful Google. According to Calcalist, Google paid $4.9 million to acquire all that Modu ever owned.

Although, Modu started a decent rate, lately the company had not been doing great and had shut down due to the massive drop in its sales. Google has already bagged the company and all the designs and patents it owns. Coming to the $4.9 million, Modu had been sued by its employees and this money from Google would help the guys pay the employees their salaries and also repay the debts.
Well, we are not sure about what exactly Google plans to do with this new acquisition. Although, obvious speculations suggest that they may use Modu’s patents and its unique designs with Android devices. Modu already holds the record for the world’s lightest phone and Google may be use this to its advantage.
