
For those who are not aware, Nokia recently announced that the company would be outsourcing it Symbian operations to Accenture and they would be laying-off 4000 employees globally by the end of 2012. According to a report on TOI, Nokia India will lay off about 300 of its 1,500 engineers working at the Research and Development center in India.
Out of the remaining engineers a total of 700 would be transferred to Accenture as an effort to cut the annual phone unit research R&D costs. The transfer as the Finnish manufacturer already announced would be completed by the end of this year, and as the layoffs will occur in phases and this will go on until the end of 2012.
