Google Android TV leaked, soon coming to your living room

Google is reportedly working on a new Android TV, which would be a crest start for the company in this market considering its failed Google TV initiative. The Verge has got their hands on some documents which show how Google plans to take on Apple TV and the recently announced Fire TV from Amazon with a similar product.

The new Android TV from Google will be much different from the Google TV which was envisioned as a platform that TV manufacturers will use, very similar to how Android comes installed on smartphones. Now, Google plans to introduce a new Android based set top box which comes with most of the key features from Apple TV and Fire TV with a similar card interface.

Application developers wold be encouraged to make apps for this platform and Google will also be introducing its own Play Store content available on the platform. It will also come pre-loaded with key Google services like Hangouts, Search, YouTube, Calendar and many others.

“Android TV is an entertainment interface, not a computing platform,” the Google document reportedly reads. “It’s all about finding and enjoying content with the least amount of friction.” It will be “cinematic, fun, fluid, and fast.”

The default remote which will come with the Android TV will simply include a four-way directional pad apart from the home, search and enter buttons. It will also come with an optional gaming controller accessory if one is interested in playing games using Android TV.
