Nexus 5X, 6P and Pixel Smartphones can Download Android 8.0 Right Now

While everyone is still waiting for Android 7.1.2 Nougat to come out of its beta phase, Google announces that beta users can already download the factory images for Android 8.0. The latter is going to be Nougat’s successor and its going to take the Android experience to another level. We think it’s safe to say that the entire Android community is enthusiastic about Google’s upcoming operating system.

Factory Images

The factory images can be found on Google’s official Android Developer website and they are compatible with the following smartphones: Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel, Pixel XL and Pixel C. However, we feel the need to disclaim that this operating system is still a developer preview. The reason why this matters is because bugs and glitches might be present.

Public Version

Android users that aren’t enlisted in Google’s Beta Program should be happy to know that the operating system is going to arrive sooner than expected. Rumor has it that Google wants to roll out Android 8.0 once its I/O event that takes place in May ends. Nonetheless, Android 8.0 is expected to bring a bunch of innovative features that are going to make the Android experience so much more enjoyable than it already is.

Fortunately for us, Google has already uploaded a list with upcoming features. Worth mentioning is that the following features are just a snippet of what’s to come, and we can expect Android 8.0 to be packed with even cooler features.

First off, Google will equip Android 8.0 with a picture-in-picture mode. This will significantly increase multitasking abilities since users will be able to write an email while they are watching a YouTube video at the same time.

Another great feature is Google Assistant. The Android parent made it clear during MWC that its virtual assistant is going to become an Android stock feature. Therefore, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will finally be up to par with the likes of Pixel when it comes to features.

Tweaks and Enhancements

In addition, Android 8.0 is also expected to bring tweaks and hardware performance enhancements. For example, the battery life is expected to be improved. What leads us to believe this is the fact that Google has been putting a lot of emphasis on shutting down background apps in every Nougat update.
