iPhone 6 back in rumours; to use Apple A7 Processor
Apple is rumored to be working on final design stages of the A7 processor. This processor is believed to be built especially for iPhone 6.
As reported by DigiTimes, Taiwan Semicondutor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has planned to start the production of A7 processor by May or June 2013 which in-turn will be delivered in Q1 of 2014.
CNET on the other hand claims that, Apple is designing its products on TSMC’s 20-nanometer process which proves the A7 processor exists well and is in the final stages of it being designed.
As Samsung had manufactured the previous lot of Apple A-series processors, the current move shows that Apple is set to manufacture its own processor to reduce their reliance on Samsung for their latest smartphone – iPhone 6.
Apple was also rumored to be considering other processor manufacturing companies including Intel for their latest processor. Conversely, there is no news yet on Apple teaming up with Intel.
Although, Apple might use its A7 chipset for the newer designs of iPod or iPad as well, there is no confirmation that iPhone 6 might use the same technology. It is also not sure whether Apple will be releasing iPhone 6 soon after A7 chipsets are delivered in Q1 of 2014.
