Google Nexus 7 (2017) to Come under “Taimen” Codename

As everyone knows already, the Android parent is highly expected to refresh its tablet offering. Google was supposedly going to take the market by storm back in 2016 and launch a new Nexus 7 tablet. Well, this didn’t happen because according to rumors Google had a fallout with Huawei.

Now that Huawei is out of the picture, rumor has it that Google wants to create the tablet on its own. Sadly, Google has yet to confirm the existance of Nexus 7 (2017) but the recently leaked “Taimen” codename is leading us to believe that Nexus 7 (2017) is in the works.

Google Leaked Codename

During last week, three Google codenames have been leaked. The first two are “Walleye” and “Muskie”. These are supposed to be Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, but now another codename has been leaked. This one is “Taimen” and everyone is speculating that it might be Nexus 7 (2017). We should mention that these codenames are as official as they come, they have been spotted on Google’s own Android Open Source Program Gerrit.

Google Nexus 7 (2017): Rumors and Speculations

If rumors are proven true and Nexus 7 (2017) is getting released we can be sure that the entire Android community will be happy. The internet is filled with rumors and speculations surrounding Google’s not-yet unveiled tablet. Today we’re going to present the most liable ones so that readers can get an idea of what to expect.

First and foremost, rumor has it that Nexus 7 (2017) will not ship with Android OS but with Andromeda OS. This operating system is a combination of Chromebook OS and Android OS. Tech experts believe that Google wants to slowly but surely replace Android OS with Andromeda OS on all of its devices. Google’s plan is similar to what Microsoft is doing with Windows 10, meaning that Google wants Andromeda OS to be a universal platform.

Nonetheless, the tablet is also expected to be quite impressive when it comes to hardware power. Google will more than surely equip it with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. The processor is very fast and it will provide owners with more than stable hardware performances under any circumstances.
