Apple and Google have been competing against each other for a while now. The two major tech companies are mainly known for competing in the mobile operating system department, well it doesn’t end there. Apple and Google are also battling each other in the smartphone industry with their iPhone and Nexus smartphone offerings.

Even though Google has parted ways with its Nexus brand, the most memorable fight between Apple and Google has taken place in 2013. Apple launched its highly popular iPhone 5S and Google teamed up with LG and launched Nexus 5. The two smartphones have been going at each other ever since. Today we’re going to pin the two against each other in the hardware department and see which one truly has the upper hand. Without any further ado, let’s jump into it.

Apple iPhone 5S vs Google Nexus 5: Hardware Power

The Cupertino based tech giant is known for installing its own-made processors on all of its products. Therefore, iPhone 5S is fueled by a dual-core Apple A7 chipset. The processor has been clocked at 1.3GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) and it’s coupled with an PowerVR G6430 quad-core graphics processing unit. Additionally, iPhone 5’s processor is also paired with 1GB of DDR3 RAM. These hardware parts make iPhone 5S highly popular to this day.

On the other hand, we have the LG-made Nexus 5. Even though LG is the manufacturer behind Nexus 5, Google has decided to go with one of Qualcomm’s highly impressive quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipsets. The processor clocks at 2.3GHz Krait 400 and it is paired with an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit alongside 2GB of RAM.

Apple iPhone 5S vs Google Nexus 5: Final Thoughts

Considering the fact that both smartphones have been launched in 2013, they are quite impressive. Although Google’s smartphone is a tad more powerful than iPhone 5S. With that big said, we have to give it to Nexus 5 because it sports a faster processor and a larger amount of RAM. In fact, Nexus 5 is still being used as a daily driver today despite its age, and all of this is thanks to its impressive hardware performance.
