Chances are quite high that you have encountered a vitally important question on Facebook today. That’s right, I am talking about the one that required you to vote on whether India or Pakistan would win the semi-final on Wednesday, or the one that asked you whether that day should be declared a national holiday, or any one of the similarly phrased questions. These questions are examples of Facebook’s newest feature called “Question”, which lets you put up a poll and let the rest of existence decide your dilemmas or clear your doubts for you!
The option for this feature appears at the top of your News Feed as something that you can share, along with your statuses, photos, links, and videos. Alternatively, if it hasn’t been activated for you yet, you can enable it here. Another feature that Questions touts is that if a particular question or poll interests you, you can follow it by clicking the “follow” option, which will notify you anytime a new answer is submitted. However, you should know that the questions you put up cannot have any privacy settings applied, and are “public and visible to everyone on the Internet,” Facebook said.
Facebook started the beta testing for this way back in July, and has finally rolled it out for all. All fun aside, I certainly do think that this could be a powerful tool. Firstly, it could help in a lot of primary research, though limited, but still effective. Also, the world and its despotic dictators have already witnessed the way Facebook can collectively gather and unleash the public’s wrath upon them. This latest addition to the social networking site will only add teeth to its already considerable prowess as a “social networking site”, in a very hitherto unrealised true sense.
Anyway, to get back to a jovial mood, here’s the funniest question I was thrown on FB today: “One bullet in your gun. Who will you shoot?”. Options? Rebecca Black & Justin Bieber. Cheers!
